At every stage of life our skin needs care and as you age your skin start to loose it’s elasticity, production of collagen reduces, wrinkles and fine lines starts appearing and skin becomes dry.
Well mature skin is not at all a sign of embarrassment it shows how well you lived your life and accept it with grace. The way a young skin needs a skincare routine the same way mature skin also needs to be cared.
Although having a proper skincare routine will not reverse the mature skin to a young skin but yes it will make your mature skin deeply nourished, healthy and glowing.
If you start a proper skincare routine at early stage of getting mature skin then some signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles can appear less.
So, now let’s start with our routine so that your mature skin glows and become healthy this winter season.
1. Cleanse :

The first step to any skin care routine is to start with cleansing. Every time you do your skincare start by cleaning your face. For that you need to choose a very gentle cleanser.
Always check the ingredient list when you choose your face cleanser. It should not contain harmful chemicals like parabens, silicones, SLS, synthetic cleansers, mineral oil, petroleum wax, artificial color and fragrance etc.
You can go for a gentle face cleanser that includes natural ingredients like coconut cleanser, rice, honey, saffron, natural oils, almond milk, flowers and essential oils etc.
By age the skin also becomes sensitive so it important to always go for natural ingredients. If you cannot find any good cleanser then you can also make your cleanser at home.

2. Use A Toner :

A toner is a must in every skin care routine. Toner helps to minimize the appearance of pores, hydrates your skin, removes excess oil from skin and helps to instantly make your skin feel refreshed.
Although toner is must in summers but in winters also toner works great. Toner helps to maintain the skin’s pH balance. It also removes dirt, pollution and product build up from skin which may not be properly removed by cleanser.
Toner is a one step above cleaning, it actually clean your skin deeply and helps your skin to absorb other good ingredients you use after cleaning. Ok, so with your mature dry skin you need to choose a toner that does not dries out skin.
For mature and dry skin the best ingredients you can look for are hyaluronic acid, glycerin, rose water, green tea, argan oil, aloe vera gel, rice etc.

3. Moisturize :

After cleaning and toning, your skin is ready to get some good ingredients. The next step is to moisturize your skin deeply as winter season sucks lots of hydration from your skin.
You need to deeply moisturize your skin for that you can use natural butters like shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter or tucuma butter. All these butters are naturally derived from plants and has lots of benefits for skin.
You can surely use a store brought moisturizer which is made from natural ingredients. If you are a natural beauty and diy lover you can make a very simple face and body moisturizer at home.
I am sharing a very simple moisturizer recipe which is perfect for mature dry skin in winters. This moisturizer will deeply nourish your skin and makes skin soft, supple and glowing.
Homemade winter Moisturizer for mature dry skin :

Ingredients :
- Shea butter – 4 Tablespoon
- Jojoba oil – 2 Tablespoon
- Vitamin E oil- 1 Tablespoon
- Carrot seed essential oil – 8 drops
Directions :
- Using double boiling method melt shea butter on medium flame
- After melting remove the bowl from heat
- Add jojoba oil, vitamin E oil and mix
- Let it cool a bit
- Then add carrot seed essential oil
- Mix everything nicely
- Keep the bowl in refrigerator, to let it solidify a bit
- Remove it from refrigerator
- To make a cream like consistency, you need to whip it
- For that you can use a fork or an electric mixer
- Whip it until it become fluffy and smooth in texture
- Then transfer it to a clean and dry jar.
Your homemade all natural winter moisturizer for mature and dry skin is all ready. It has all the good ingredients, that will improve skin elasticity, boost collagen production and deeply nourish skin.
4. Use Under Eye Cream :

The area under our eyes gets dry even in summers and winters makes it worst. Your mature skin really needs even more extra care during winters on the area under eyes.
Lack in blood circulation under your eyes also leads to puffiness and dark circles. So, during winter season take special care for under eye area.
Although the moisturizer recipe I shared above is good and helps to lock moisture in your skin but you can also use a separate eye cream that treats puffiness and dark circles.
You should use an eye cream every night before sleeping and always avoid screen in dark room before sleeping.
5. Scrubbing :

Scrubbing your skin helps to remove dead skin cells, clears clogged pores and makes skin smooth. When your skin starts to become mature scrubbing once a week is fine.
Do not over exfoliate your skin because it can do more harm than good. Once every week is good for mature skin. You can always make your own face and body scrub at home.
During winter season you can ingredients that locks and restore moisture in your skin yet exfoliate your skin properly. So, below I am sharing a very simple and easy recipe to make winter face and body scrub for mature skin
Ingredients :
- Oatmeal – 4 Tablespoon
- Honey – 2 Tablespoon
Directions :
- Grind oatmeal to get coarse powder
- Then in a bowl add oats powder
- Then mix honey in it
- Use this scrub on wet skin in circular motion
- Scrub it with gentle hands and then rinse.
Oatmeal in this scrub will gently exfoliate your skin by removing dead skin cells. Honey is a natural skin conditioner, which helps to nourish your skin deeply and makes it glowing and smooth.
6. Hydrate Yourself :

Whenever I talk about skin care and hair care, I always mention this particular point which is hydration. As not only it is important to take care of your skin or hair from outside, you need to also work for inside.
As I already mentioned by age when skin becomes to get mature, it gets dry, looses firmness and the body reduce production of collagen. It is important to get yourself hydrated properly everyday.
Hydration plays a big big role in skincare. If your body is properly hydrated it will glow automatically from outside. Simply because having enough water everyday flushes out toxins from the body.
So a clean body from inside definitely glows from outside. Although winters does make you feel thirsty as summers do but you should drink enough water in winters too.
Also not only water is the only source of hydrating your body. There are lots of fruits and veggies that are filled with water. You should eat fresh fruits and vegetables that are rich in water.
