Do you Love to use press on nails but confused can you shower with press on nails ? Yes, you can shower with press on nails. In this article you will learn how to shower with press on nails and how to wash your hair with press on nails easily.
I am also a big fan of using press on nails and use them very often or whenever I feel I don’t have time to do the art on my nails.
So I use some tips to make sure my press on nails does not fall off quickly and last for few days once I stick them on my nails.
But before that lets know
How Long After Applying Press on Nails, Can You Shower ?
It’s best to wait at least 2–4 hours before showering after applying press-on nails. This gives the glue enough time to fully set and bond properly to your natural nails.
Even if your nails feel secure right away, water and steam too soon can weaken the adhesive, especially around the edges.
If you want your press-ons to stay on beautifully for days, giving them a little “settling time” after application makes a big difference.
Ok, so now lets know these 7 simple tips that I always use while showering with press on nails. You can follow these simple tips to easily shower with press on nails.
1. Set The Water Temperature :

The first thing you have to do is to set the temperature of the water. If it’s summer time and you take cold shower then there is no problem but when you are not taking shower with cold water then you need to set the temperature.
Make sure the water is not hot, also it is not at all good for your skin and hair to use hot or very hot water. Make sure the water should not be hot. It should be mild hot or warm.
Hot water can loose the adhesive you used to stick press on nails on your real nails. This can cause your press on nails to fall or sometimes they can melt a bit if the nails are made of low quality plastic by the brand.
So, simply make sure the water should be mild hot or warm, whatever you prefer.
2. Use A Loofah :

When you are showering with press on nails and use a soap bar or a liquid soap it directly goes into your nails which reduces the sticking capacity of the adhesive.
This issue can be easily solved by using a loofah. When you use a loofah it does not let the soap enter directly into your nails. Also it becomes a bit difficult to hold a soap bar if you have applied long press on nails.
It becomes really easy with a loofah to use any type of soap without reducing the sticking capacity of the adhesive. This will make sure your press on nails last for a long time.
3. Use a Good Quality Nail Glue :

Press on nail box often comes with a few things like a small cuticle pusher, nail filer, nail glue tabs or nail glue.
Both sides of nail glue tab have the adhesive and you need to stick it on your nails and then place your press on nail over it.
Using these nail tabs are a good option if you want to keep the press on nails for short period of time. If you want to keep them for longer time then use a good quality nail glue instead.
Also nail glue tabs will easily make your press on nails fall while having shower. Simply because the sticking capacity of a nail glue tab is very less as compared to a nail glue.
So, simply use a good quality nail glue if you have the plan to keep your press on nails for long time.
4. Do Not Keep Hands in Water for Long Time :

While showering it is not possible to completely keep your hands away from the water but you can make sure to not keep your hands in the water for long time at once.
Although I mentioned above to use mild hot or warm water but still keeping your hand soaked in mild hot or warm water at one time can loosen the glue.
5. Washing Your Hair with Press on Nails :

You might also be thinking about how to wash your hair with press on nails. Again its a very simple trick, you just need to rub the shampoo on your scalp using your fingers instead of using finger tips.
This trick will again not let the shampoo directly enter in your finger tips area under the nails.
Another thing you can do is to use a silicon scalp brush. It’s a soft brush made from silicon. You can simply pour some shampoo over it and massage your scalp with it.
6. Drying Your Hands :

After completing with your shower make sure to firstly dry your hands. Use a soft towel to quickly dry the area of your finger tips under the press on nails. This step will make sure all water is dried under your nail area after that you can dry yourself.
You can do this step whenever you wash your hands, quickly dry your finger tips area under the nails and then dry the rest of your hands.
7. Check All The Nails :

Even if you follow all the above tips there are still some chances of the nail adhesive to loose and your nail to fall. So after completing your shower routine always make sure to check all your nails.
To check your nails simply grab the tip of the nail and gently pull up, by this way you will easily find out if a nail has the chance to fall and its adhesive got washed away.
If all your nails are fine then you can push all the nails using your finger tips but if you get the feeling that any of your nail can fall then simply pull out the nail.
Clean your natural nail to the make the surface of your nail bed clear and again use the nail glue to stick your press on nail.
Whenever I go outside with press on nails I always check all my nails and make sure they all are in place properly. It can be really a nightmare if your nail fall somewhere outside and you can’t even find it.
So, checking all of your nails especially before going out is the best thing to do when you are using press on nails.
